Highmark also promotes Wellness and Immunization by offering free materials on these topics to families.

Highmark offers free or low-cost health insurance to uninsured children through its mission products: CHIP (children's Health Insurance Program) and the adultBasic program. The benefits for the CHIP program includes: Check-ups, Immunizations, and Doctor Visits; Diagnostic Tests; Emergency Care; Outpatient Surgery; Dental, Vision and Hearing Care; Prescription Drugs; Mental Health Care; and Inpatient Hospital Care, substance abuse and durable medical goods. The benefits for adultbasic includes: doctor office vists, diagnostic tesing, emergency care, hospitalization, maternity, outpatient surgery, rehabilitaiton therapies, home health care and skilled nursing.

Fees/Cost for Services

Premiums are not required for those eligible for the free programs. A premium is required for the low-cost program - currently $30 a month per one child; $60 a month for two children, and $70. per month for three or more children; Highmark also has a Children's Direct Pay Program for families who meet income eligibility guidelines. The adultBasic program is administered through Highmark for uninsured adults between the ages of 19-through 64. The premium is $33.50 per person a month. There is a wait list for this program, but eligible adults have the option of purchasing adultBasic for the full prices premium as an option for immedate access the to the program. Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, children must be a Pennsylvania resident under the age of 19 not enrolled in any other insurance program and not eligible for public health insurance such as Medical Assistance (ACCESS), Medicaid, Healthy Beginnings, or Gateway.Children must meet age, family size, and income guidelines.
